The City of Phillipsburg is lifting the snow emergency effective Monday, January 22, at 2:00 P.M. Thank you for assisting the City by having your vehicles moved from the emergency snow routes during this time.
Residents are reminded of the sidewalk snow ordinances. The ordinance states snow and ice shall be removed for sidewalks within 12 hours of the time the snow fall or ice storm stops. If the snow falls or ice accumulates upon the sidewalks in the nighttime, removal of same must be made within 12 hours after sunrise on the following day. It shall be unlawful for any person to place snow removed from private property upon any public street, alley or sidewalk. Where there shall be ice or compacted snow on any such sidewalk to make it practically impossible to remove the same, the sprinkling of ashes, sand or other noncorrosive chemicals on the accumulation of ice or snow in such a manner as to make such sidewalk reasonably safe for pedestrian travel.
Please remember while the snow emergency is no longer in effect, the streets are snow packed and slick. If you must venture out please use caution to avoid injury to yourself and damage to your vehicle.
