[ARCHIVED] Mayor Munyon signs CENSUS 2020 Partner Proclamation

CITY OF PHILLIPSBURG

WHEREAS, the U.S. Census Bureau is required by the U.S. Constitution to conduct a count of the population and provide a historic opportunity to help shape the foundation of our society and play an active role in American democracy; and

WHEREAS, the Census is vital to our community in that the data ensures fair Congressional representation by determining how many seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives as well as the redistricting of state legislature, county and city councils, and voting districts; and

WHEREAS, accurate census information is critical to planning for future growth, development, and social needs of Phillips County; and

WHEREAS, state and federal funding for social and other programs are made, in part, on census data; and

WHEREAS, census information is confidential and federal law prohibits any public or private agency from gaining access to this data.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that I, Mayor Lance R. Munyon, and the Phillipsburg City Council, do hereby recognize the City of Phillipsburg to be a

Census 2020 Partner

and is committed to ensuring every resident is counted. It is our privilege to partner with the U.S. Census Bureau in achieving an accurate and complete count in Census 2020.
