[ARCHIVED] City Council Votes to Increase Utility Rates beg March 1

On February 21, 2022, the Phillipsburg City Council adopted new utility rates for water, sewer, and trash.  Council Committees recommended a 5% increase in sewer and trash in response to increasing prices in electricity, fuel, materials and employee benefits.  They also are planning for equipment replacements, as a new trash truck will be needed in 2028.  The Council Committees recommended a $3 increase in water also due to increasing prices in items required to operate the water system and the increased revenue is a necessity to help with the loan payments for the $547,000 Quanz reservoir replacement project that was required last year by KDHE.

Residents inside of city limits will see a net $5.17 per month increase in their bill beginning with the bill mailed out on March 31st and due on April 10th.  Commercial customers inside of city limits will see a $5.23 per month increase for those who have poly karts and $6.75  a month for those who have dumpsters.
