City Treasurer


Elected for two-year terms, the city treasurer keeps a full and accurate record of all money received and paid out, publishes a quarterly financial statement, and performs such other duties as prescribed by the governing body or the Kansas statutes.
 
Abby Wahl is the current city treasurer.  Her term will expire in January 2024.

Responsibilities


The city clerk and city treasurer work to provide support and information to other departments and the public concerning the city's finances. Budget development, financial reporting and compliance, accounts payable, and utility billing are all within the financial responsibilities.

Cash Basis Law


The City of Phillipsburg is required by the State of Kansas to follow the Cash Basis Law which means the city cannot spend more cash than it has on hand nor can it overspend the budget.
