Permit Requirements

Certain construction and improvements to private property, such as adding or expanding driveways and parking areas, construction of fences and sidewalks, or residential construction improvements, must conform with the applicable Zoning Ordinance, regardless of whether or not a building permit is required.

Before making changes in land use on a property, or making improvements, please contact the City Office to determine what regulations, or permitting requirements apply to your project.

Activities Requiring a Permit

Permits are required for, but are not limited to, the following activities:
  • New residential, commercial, industrial, building construction
  • Additions to, of demolition of, residential, commercial, industrial buildings
  • Sidewalks, driveway, drive entrances, etc.
  • Fences
  • Electrical and plumbing improvements
  • Permanent signs
Permits are generally not required for repair and maintenance projects.
